All the Stars in All the Sky
“Even the darkness cannot stop the stars from shining” says Michael in the above Burnt Orange Peel. As I read this strip, I found Michael’s statement to be an excellent illustration of what Christianity is, a light in a dark world. We live in a dark world, there is no arguing this fact. The advantage of living in a world so infested with darkness is, when light shines, it shines that much more noticeably and boldly, like stars in the night sky. The darker the sky gets, the brighter the stars become. Even better, no matter how dark the world gets, how much it tries to put out both personal and corporate lights of believers, it will never be able to succeed. Those who profess to be in Christ, are not only responsible to let His light shine through them, they are obligated to do so. We can shine in our successes, as the Lord works in our life, where only He can get the glory, just as we can shine in our failures, as we repent and reconcile being an example of people who embrace His grace. In this dark world of lies, where many see no meaning or make meaning of their own, truth shines like a tall lighthouse, guiding those who follow the light along their way. No matter what we face, regardless of any opposition we find ourselves against, we can take comfort in knowing the light will never stop shining. How bright do you let your light shine? Does your light beam proudly and prominently or dimly and grimly ? Grab onto the light, hold the light tightly, and let it shine through in both how you think, and what you do.
