Speak of the Devil

I overheard a conversation today, a conversation that I have thought about many times myself alone as well as with other people. Two people were talking about Satan and how he wants us to fail, and he tries his hardest to make us fail. Where do we get that? Sure do not get me wrong I believe Satan has his hand in plenty of things, especially on the large scale, but on the small, I am not sure sure that is always the case. I think without recognizing it we as believers try to make Satan a scapegoat for our flesh. We try to shift the responsibility of our actions and failures from ourselves to him. In Genesis it did not take Satan much in convincing Eve to partake of the fruit, he merely gave a nudge. Her flesh was already there. The same is true with us. If Satan does personally tempt or come after us he really does not have to do much work for our flesh is merely a step or two from the wrong direction at any given moment. May we take responsibility and know while we may suffer the consequences, He took the fall so we are not condemned by the condemnable.

It is a marvelous day out!
